Sometime in early March the DoubleTree Westside (LAX) dropped its free airport shuttle.
The hotel kindly comped me the taxi ride to/from the hotel when I arrived at LAX April 3 with a long-standing reservation, and may be willing to do so for people who booked before the shuttle termination. However, the hotel has a contract with only one of the cab companies, and getting the right cab at LAX isn't always easy. If the hotel doesn't comp the cab rides, the round trip puts an extra $40 on the total cost, erasing the hotel's periodic price advantage over other Hilton Family hotels in the LAX area.
Furthermore, the hotel front desk told me the hotel no longer waives the $15 parking fee for HH Diamond members arriving by car.
