Advanced purchase but no payment taken??

Hi all,

Sorry if this has not been discussed before.

Last year whilst living in the UK I made a booking for a Hilton in Asia. The specific hotel was booked last July with MrsSgtRyan and I due to stay in Jan of this year. I made the booking online with my credit card and totally forgot about it after receiving the confirmation. This was an advanced rate, so non refundable, can't cancel etc.

Without boring everyone, my wife became sick and we were unable to make the rest of the trip. I put a claim in for a ton of stuff with our insurance company and they requested that I sent over a 'no show' invoice from the specific hotel. Not a problem!!! I emailed and to my amazement I got a reply stating that yes there was a no show however no payment was taken???? eh???

I rang up the hotel and asked them to confirm. It was confirmed, no payment was taken. As I knew the date the transaction was made I also rang up my credit card company to make sure. They also confirmed no payment was taken from Hilton.

So after all that, I didn't pay for the room? and I booked an advanced rate?? Is that normal? Isnt that the point of an advanced rate?

Any thoughts?
