In March 2013, I made a reservation to stay at the Hilton Moorea for the period of time from 12/29/2013 through 1/2/2014 via the Diamond Desk, since this was an AXON reward.
In late May 2013 (about 2.5 months later), I received an email directly from the hotel informing me of a mandatory New Year's Eve dinner. The price of the dinner was not disclosed, but through some independent research on unaffiliated third party websites, I saw comments indicating the price in a prior year was 25,000 XPF; if this is an accurate number, at today's exchange rates, this equates to about $279 USD.
This dinner obligation was not disclosed to me by the Diamond Desk at the time of booking the reservation, and I didn't see any reference to it in the reservation confirmation I subsequently received.
I do not want to pay for this dinner. Given that this obligation wasn't disclosed to me at the time the reservation was made, I do not think I should be held to this obligation.
However, the request that I made directly to the hotel to waive the requirement was denied. I have also attempted to get help through a variety of Hilton company departments, including Guest Assistance, the Diamond Desk, and Sales & Reservation department, but so far nothing positive has developed.
Does anyone have any ideas about what I can do beyond this, or someone I can make contact with to resolve this?
Thanks in advance for your input.
