So my wife and I are planning a trip down to South Florida in a few months. We're doing a bit of hotel hopping, but are looking to stay one night in the Fort Lauderdale Beach Resort (or some other 'fancier' hotel in Ft. Lauderdale or Miami)

I'm a Gold member with ~180K points, but am pretty new to hotel programs and HHonors in particular - anyone have tips for if it's possible to get an upgrade at all?
I see the 2QUEEN BED OCEANVIEW STUDIO/652 SQFT/BALCONY which seems like the standard room for 50K points. That actually seems like a pretty nice room but didn't know if anyone had suggestions. I know being "Gold" doesn't mean that much anymore so if this is the best we can do then that's fine but just thought I'd check
