Last October we had a great time going to Orlando for 5 nights and doing all the Disney stuff there. We then went to Clearwater Beach resort for a day to unwind before we flew back to PHX. We wish we had more time at the beach. Now we want to go back with some friends.
This time, I think we will go to Orlando for just a couple nights and then would like to go to a beach resort for 5 nights. There will be two families, with 5 kids total (age 1 year to 6 years).
We will be flying in and out of PHX with US/AA and would like to fly direct. This means in/out of Orlando, Tampa, Fort Lauderdale or Miami. Last year we flew in/out of Fort Lauderdale and drove to Orlando. That was no big deal and was worth saving the money in airfare. I'm not sure if the drive between Orlando/Miami would be worth it.
We stayed at the Hilton Clearwater Beach Resort last year and really enjoyed the beach there. I don't mind staying there again, but thought I would check here to see if anybody has any recommendation for us to consider besides this resort? We want to relax and enjoy the beach and perhaps some of the other local stuff. With 5 young kids, it needs to be kid friendly with easy in/out access to the beach. It helps if there are other things to do/see nearby without big hassles. A day of fishing or scuba diving for the dads wouldn't stink, either!
I am a Diamond Member and the other family is a Gold Member. We want to use points for our stay. We will want to hit Disney World first during the trip, then relax at a beach. We are going in October.
