Combining Award Reservations (Spouses)

Scenario:

Hotel: Fee Parker Doubletree in Santa Barbara
Reservation #1: Friday night (50K points) under my HH # (Diamond).
Reservation #2: Saturday night (points and $) under wife's HH # (Gold).

Same room type for both reservations.

Can I call someone (either hotel direct or Diamond line) to combine these reservations so we don't have to check out and in on Saturday?

If I get a room upgrade on Friday, will they be OK with us staying in the same upgraded room?

I just want to know who it's best to talk to (hotel direct or diamond).
