This is a true story at a hilton hotel. I can't name the hotel for obvious reasons. But here is how the story goes. This guy is a credit card gold getting belligerent when not given lounge access and wanted the exact same benefits as a Diamond member.
This property has a one cat upgrade policy. Meaning gold members to the next category and not automatically to executive floor. This gold member was given a room on a non executive floor and was NEVER told he has lounge access.
He went up to the lounge anyway and asked for a beer.. The exchange follows...
Gold Member: Get me a beer, I am a hilton gold VIP member
Lounge staff: Sorry Sir, you are not entitled to lounge drinks because gold members are only given lounge access when/IF upgraded to executive floor.
Gold member: I have been to all Hilton properties in the World, always given lounge access, now what is the problem with u?
Lounge staff: Sorry but one cat upgrade is our policy
Gold member: GET YOUR GM HERE.. I will give him a lecture on gold benefits...(Gold member noticably angry now, seems poised for a fight)
Lounge staff: The GM is not in today
Gold member: Then get your front office manager here, I am gold VIP member, I will write to Hilton Worldwide to complain.. How dare you mistreat a Gold member like this???
Lounge staff: Yes Sir, I will do that.
