Apologies if this is covered in the FAQ other threads; my searches couldn't find me an answer...
Has anyone had recent experience of booking rooms using BA Avios?
After the demise of BMI Diamond club I am now left with a large pot of BA Avios and looking at ways to use them.
The FAQ section here seems to suggest that you don't earn HH Points or VIP tier credit on any rooms booked using anything other than a Hilton Website.
I need to put in some Hilton stays to maintain Diamond and wondered whether booking rooms using Avios and then charging small incidentals might at least generate a night towards tier status.
Another option I was looking at was combining a first night paid stay with a second night Avios funded stay, I know that I should be eligible for the first night but would be concerned at any further Avios funded stays being combined and making the entire stay ineligible.
