Hilton's website has offered me a "mystery points" promotion where I can buy effectively up to 60,000 points for 1.5 cents a point, that is, 400 bucks for 60,000 points.
I will be doing a major two-week trip to Asia to places with many Hilton properties (Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Bangkok, and Seoul at a minimum) next summer. It seems in my experience, it's hard to get redemption rates worth even 1 cent per point in practice anymore; I know some value these at just 0.5 cents per point. I think some points+dollars offers may give a somewhat better value. Anyway, I think the Level 1 Doubletree in Kuala Lumpur may not be a bad deal, for example, though I'd like to hit some nicer places as well.
I just wanted to ask the points veterans here if they thought there was any reason at all to consider this purchase to pad my points, which I'm thinking about doing as long as I'd have a decent chance of breaking even dollarwise given my Asia focus. Thanks for any input.
