Pictorial review of Hampton Bournemouth.
This hotel opened up recently and is attached to the Hilton Bournemouth which is still under construction but due to open soon. :)
It is great to see the Hilton chain opening up more hotels in the South of England with the beautiful coastline nearby and many people vacationing / working here but little to no choice of chain hotels. (not including Premier Inns and co).
The beach is only 5 minutes walk away:

Anyway, haven’t seen a thread on this hotel yet so please excuse me if there is one already existing…
I booked the hotel fairly last minute, only a day or two out and just booked their standard queen size room. They have a queen with a sofa bed as well which is a bit bigger but no other differences (besides the sofa bed obviously) and a twin single bed bedroom as well as other options. There are also accessible rooms for disabled guests but I don’t know how many and haven’t looked at these on the site.
Nice rooms:

The prices for Bournemouth can be quite expensive, especially in the high tourist season as it is a very popular location for families and the beaches. Traffic can also be quite bad getting in or out of the area but this comes with the city and location, not the hotel!
The hotel is on Upper Terrace Road which is a one way street so do make sure to come at the hotel from the Eastern side of Upper Terrace Road otherwise you won’t get to the entrance or car park. The car park is a third party run site that is under the Hampton and has several levels and is also brand new. The entrance and ramps between floors are a bit tight if you have a larger car so consider yourself warned! The fee is a flat £ 10 per night (but you have to leave by 12 noon in any case the next day or work something out with the front desk). Hotel guests simply park and then at check in you use a provided touch screen display to enter your registration to trigger the flat fee charged to your room. The exit from the car park to the hotel is something I didn’t work out so I simply walked out the car entrance and then walked up the hill…I’ll be back again next week and will try to see if there are any better ways from the garage to the hotel and update this thread if I do find one!

Anyway, once you exit the car park or are on Upper Terrace Road, you go to the end of the Hampton building and then up some stairs and turn left to enter the hotel through sliding doors that are facing the street right on the corner of the building. It wasn’t that obvious hence why I describe it in the hopes that others don’t look quite the fool I did…as there is a glass walkway that looks like it leads to the centre of the front of the building but has no real purpose.
Once you enter the hotel, you turn left and the reception is straight ahead with the elevators to the right of reception. There are some seating areas in the lobby once you enter the building before reception and a bar as well as the breakfast area (and some evening food is also available as well) at the back to the left of reception.
The hotel has 5 floors with bedrooms over an L shape on the lower floors and only one side of the L on the 4th and 5th floors IIRC. The longer side of the L is facing Upper Terrace Road and the short bottom side of the L is facing a new apartment block that has been built beside the Hampton further up the road.

The rooms were nice and well decorated, in a relaxed but functional style suited to the area. (by this I mean the pastel blue and green tones and beach or water pictures). Being new, everything worked well and was clean.

The main room was again similar to the Southampton Hilton Ageas hotel as it uses the same HVAC controller and both need a key card to operate any lights or electronics in the room. (so get an extra card to power devices when you are not in the room or keep the same temperature if this is important to you). The air conditioning worked well during my stay but was a bit loud if on medium fan or high fan speeds so may bother others. There are no opening windows.

As a diamond I had a choice of a drink and a snack or 250 points as my amenity and this was not mentioned by the reception staff (although they were very friendly and helpful otherwise) so once I remembered, I came back down and got the drink and snacks which are available to the left of reception on the way to the bar and restaurant area without issue.
There are two lifts and both require the RFID tag in the room key to be activated by proximity before you can go up to the floors with guest rooms but don’t need to be used to get down to reception.
TV Console:

The TV was a reasonable size but certainly smaller than most hotel rooms (I would guess it was 32 inch if that). There were plenty of places to plug things in on the bedside tables, TV console or work desk area, with a nice feature on the desk where you can plug your USB cable directly into some slots above the usual power points without needing a plug adapter. ^^
Power Points as well as USB charging points:

The bed was firm and quite high above the ground in my opinion, which for me isn’t a problem but may be for shorter people!
In the morning I had a quick breakfast in the restaurant area and there was a decent selection of both hot and cold items (usually only one item so less choice but at least some variety, for example there was only croissants or white bread instead of several types of bread and several types of pastries but this is only a Hampton after all and still the quality was better than what I have seen in Holiday Inn Express hotels for example in the UK.) The staff were attentive and quickly cleared up items as well as topping up any food items. For those not used to Hampton, breakfast is included.
I didn’t use the wifi so can’t comment but again, wifi is included in the standard room price.
I can imagine this hotel will be very popular as it is good value for money, new, clean and higher quality than most other offerings in the area. Once the Hilton opens it may help a bit to allow even more choice of price/quality.
The hotel is quite central and you can get to the beach very quickly (within a few minutes walk down the hill) or to any number of places to eat in the evening.
I can definitely recommend the hotel if you are staying in Bournemouth area and don’t mind the traffic getting here or getting away again. I do think the Hilton will be stunning when it does open with the views it should have and even better quality and service offerings/levels but this Hampton is an excellent mid tier offering in the chain that is still head and shoulders above many other hotels and B & B’s in the city.
There is a small business area and further on, a small gym area on the ground floor.
