I often check the rates again after I book a room to see if they drop, especially a day or so before I travel. It worth it to me to save $10 or $20 to rebook the room. Sometimes, though, I have to work around the system.
When I do this, most times I check the room rates to see if there is a new, lower room rate without first logging in to my account . What I have learned, though, is that if I then log in to my account and use the "change" feature on my existing reservation that rate is gone. In order to get the lower rate I have to book a new room and cancel the old one.
This happened to me twice in the past week. Both times my existing rate was an MVP rate, and when I went to rebook with the change feature, even with the MVP code entered, I was not offered the MVP rate. So I booked a new room and cancelled the old.
I can't recall if it has happened to me before on rates other than MVP rates, although I know I have had to cancel and book a new room in the past. Anyone else have this happen to them?
