FWIW, I sent HHonors corporate folks an e-mail yesterday regarding the lack of P&C choices.
Here's the final exchange between myself and the Director I dealt with, whom by the way, was very genuine and attentive.
HHonors:
Dear Mr. Fozziedoggie
In regards to your question on the Points & Money Reward options, each one of our hotels has the option to offer Points & Money Rewards, and it is not dictated by the HHonors program. Availability of the Points & Money Reward varies by participating hotels and stay dates at the time of booking. We do, however, understand your feedback about HHonors enforcing that more hotels offer this benefit, and I will be sure to share this feedback with the team.
Again, thank you for sending this note to us and we hope you enjoy your next stay with us.
Me:
Thanks so much...spot on. For what it's worth, I firmly believe that every property should make available at least one standard room for P&C redemption. I don't understand the financial aspect of why one would offer points only rooms, but not P&C rooms? Clearly an internal discussion between HHonors and their property owners. Again, seems like this option should be growing and not shrinking; makes the recent points devaluation a bit easier to take. I'm glad to hear HHonors will give this issue some serious consideration, that's all I'm asking.
Call me optimistic, but I'm hopeful that all the recent complaint calls/e-mails regarding the point devaluation will cause more properties to participate in the P&C program. Even if they dedicate just one standard room available, that's better than nothing.
