A new HGI ... only open ~4 weeks.
I love the larger, new-style lobby, restaurant & bar area. The decorating is
more toward modern/contemporary. A small outdoor patio area that the
bartender said will have food & beverage service. Nicely done.
Front desk staffer (Kyle) knew his job. Great bartender (Deb). Kyle & staff
took calls from several other guests who could not find the property.
If coming from the south, good signage. If coming from the north - no
signage whatsoever ...
My Garmin GPS (most current maps) could not find it. Mapquest mis-directs.
Waze mis-directs. Google Maps will find it, but only if you enter the city as
Miamisburg. Use Dayton South, or Austin Landing ... and it finds nothing.
(I've submitted a suggestion to both Google Maps and Waze.) Garmin and
Mapquest don't make it easy to correct misinformation.
Rooms are typical HGI. Equipped with Keurig 1-cup coffee makers. I am not
a fan of 1-cup coffee makers, so I shuffle to the lobby and bring multiple
cups back to the room.
Phone by the bed; no speakerphone. No phone at the desk. Cord on
the phone is plenty long for moving it to the desk.
In the morning, I called the front desk to extend my stay by 1-day. She
struggled. The best I could get out of her was "should's" and "think so's".
Not a confidence inspiring interaction.
There is a room off the lobby that has things for kids; puzzles, a PlaySkol
scooter, etc. Works well as long as the kids stay in the room. Not so good
if the kids bring the scooter into the lobby and breakfast area (a problem
this morning). I hope they ditch the scooter thing.
Good access to the main road; traffic lights at both entrances.
The rooms facing the north a quiet and dark (in the shadow of a hill).
Schindler elevators are swifter than whatever slugs are typically installed
at HGI's.
Room locks use prox cards, not mag-stripe readers.
