How not to handle a fire alarm - Hunt Valley, MD Embassy Suites

My stay at the Embassy Suites, Hunt Valley, MD is not starting off well. After getting in and to bed at 4 AM, the fire alarm went off shortly before 7 AM (I didn't actually look at the exact time). When we got downstaires and outside, we found out that the hotel decided it was a false alarm (actually probably a bogus pull) and called the fire department to tell them not to show up. It then took the hotel over 30 minutes to silence the alarm during which time people were just going back in and up to their rooms.

Some points:

I have *no idea* how they would have figured it out and told people if a fire actually broke out given they were in the middle of crying wolf for over 30 minutes. (We waited outside.)

It takes over 30 minutes to silence a false alarm?

The fire department is not required to show up for any and every alarm in MD? I know they are in both MA and NY.

Needless to say the front desk staff did nothing except say that they were doing the best they code.
