Hi all, first post here..
I travel for work every now and then, ~12-14 weeks a year. I am Gold at Marriott already and am guaranteed to keep my Gold status through 2014 and 2015. I don't fly much, but have a period coming up where I'll have about 5 weeks at a client I'll have to hotel for.
1) Would it be worth it to use this to gain some status for Hilton, or should I just pick one and stay with that? Is Hilton as easy to get free nights and/or use points for free nights?
2) I'd like to bump up my skymiles (I stick with Delta, unless I find reason to change), but since I don't fly much that's obviously tough. Does Hilton offer a better points-to-miles process than Marriott? Or are both not worth doing this really?
3) I find that my points are better saved for Stateside weekend getaways, since I can find cheap hotels when I travel internationally. Would Hilton be better stateside for my situation (in terms of what I'd get in points to use for free nights)?
