I've not had a decent culinary experience at any top level hilton outside of breakfast
In the last 12 months, wife & I have vacationed at:
Conrad Rangali
- Lunch was overpriced and bland
- Vilu dinner with wine @ $250 a head was bad quality wine and flavorless food.
- the local restaurant near the spa area was overpriced, but the food was edible
- underwater restaurant cocktail hour with appetizers was enough of a let down to save $700
Hilton Bora Bora
- lunch was overpriced and bland, but at least it was abundant
- we did room service for dinner since the restaurant menus looked horrible and the reviews on the main thread were poor
Hilton Moorea
- skipped lunch here since the other 2 super expensive hotels had low quality meals.
- dinner was the same, very expensive and not worth the price, especially the bland christmas night buffet. seafood was bland, all the deserts tasted like vanilla.
We are, by no means, food connoisseurs, but we like to eat things that have flavor. It is better if they are priced accordingly.
Looking at the Koh Sumui thread, I get the same inclination of overpriced, bland food.
So my question here is twofold:
1) Why do these top tier hotels have such horrible gastronomy experiences?
2) Do all the top tier hotels suffer like this in this chain?
They seem to have breakfast down very well everywhere I've stayed.... but that's about it
