Switch cash reservation to points

Is it possible to switch a normal cash reservation to a points reservation? And if this is possible, do award nights have to still be available for those nights, or will it work even if they're gone?

I've searched the forums multiple times and can't find anything in there, so I'm hoping you guys can help. Thanks in advance.
