I am not a fan of the devaluation from Hilton, but I am trying to figure out how it impacts me for my specific use of hotels.
I have a six year old who likes hotels for a change of scenery. For day trips or 1-2 overnight trips, we generally stay at lower cost hotels, and sometimes the cat 1-3 hotels. My understanding is that I will benefit some from this, but will get hit if I want to stay at saw a beach hotel during the summer with seasonal rates, where the hotel catagory is a 6+ or so.
My intent is to make a reservation for a place like the Double Tree @ Times Square since that is an insane jump, but for the average run of the mill hotel (where it makes more sense to stay at a cat 1-2 due to the cost v. the points) the changes arent that bad, right?
I love international travel, and will get dinged there, but I often backpack and I am OK with staying at a cheap dive, so I dont think that will impact me too much, save the splurge hotel.
Am I missing anything here? And, I also get gold status via a CC, nothing changes with what I get w/ Gold statuts, right?
