Had a call this evening from the London Paddington Hilton asking me to confirm I had booked a 4 night reward stay starting this evening! Luckily some eagle-eyed receptionist smelt a rat and they called me when the fraudster was trying to check in! I confirmed i hadn't booked anything and the person ran away from the hotel when he was challenged..!
I called the US Diamond desk who put me through to a nice chap in Corporate Guest Assistance. After confirming my identity, he told me that it looks like the room was booked online using my pin or password which I've now changed! He raised a case with their fraud team.. Could just be a lucky hit but I'd be sure to check you have no unexpected bookings on your profile and change your password just in case someone is trying to do something widespread..!
Great work by Hilton though ^, very impressed with person who spotted it and the response from the people I spoke to afterward.. Also the points for the other 3 nights are already back in my account. I'll have to wait a little while for the first night as the cancellation policy was exceeded..
